Morning Star Mine at Woods Point about 1918. The Morning Star dyke was discovered in 1861 situated on the spur leading to the junction of the Morning Star Creek with the Goulburn River. Operations of the Morning Star Gold Mining Company commenced in 1861 and were continuous until 1900. In 1916 the Morning Star Gold Mining Company was formed and a grant of 10,000 pounds, was provided by the Government. A shaft of 400 feet was sunk with good results. Reference; Owen F.
