A1 Gold Mine, Gaffneys Creek, 1915. – At its peak – Mines Department Photograph. The story of the Jordan Goldfields commenced with the discovery of gold at Gaffneys Creek. “A1 mine plant after 1916, following erection of the new battery and driving No 5 adit. The broad gauge tramway conveyed timber and supplies up to the adit, and it remained until the thirties.
