Langley (nee Smith). Sidney Gordon Smith died from pneumonia, 1906, aged 35 years. Note: the reaper and binder and the bowyangs on father. Bowyang (Aust/NZ) is a band or strap worn round the trouser leg below the knee. ORIGIN: late 19th century: from the British dialect bowyanks, bowyankees ‘leather leggings’, of unknown origin.
