Nell Walsh – Graham Padbury – Milk Bar – Begley’s Building. Do you remember the catch cry “Let’s go down to Nellies”? (Three photographs) The building was once a grocery and all goods shop (including wine) – Begleys. Coates and Llewellyn took over. The shop was burnt. Vic Walsh then rebuilt the store and Allen Carter went into one shop and opened a comic shop. In the back part of the shop was a billiard room – Ken Rutherford had the billiard room for a while. There was an empty shop at the front – Nell Walsh, Freda, Mum Freda and Albert Walsh (Albert was then 16 years of age) then opened this as the True Line milkbar – 1950s. The present Milk Bar is called Choices. (2012)
