This report was prepared in 1968 by the writer, R.W. Condon, then special soil conservationist with the Soil Conservation Service of N.S. W., in charge of the Service’s activities in catchments areas (including the reclamation works on the main range in the Australian Alps}, coastal dune stabilisation and the Western Division of the State. It followed a review of Australian and overseas research on the effects of fires on various aspects of the environment.
