The Mansfield Courier, Wednesday May 24 1911; Coronation Medal – The Minister of Education. (Mr. A.A. Billson) has announced that the Ministry has decided to distribute Coronation medals to all school children in State or private institutions. About 256,000 bronze gilt medals would be manufactured for the purpose. They would bear drawings of the heads of King George and Queen Mary on one side, and on the other there would be a representation of the Victorian coat of arms. The medals would cost about £2000. School committees are to be asked to arrange for the presentation of the medals, with suitable ceremony, on Coronation Day.
