Boorolite and Merrijig Picnic 1910 Hearn’s Crossing (Nos 1 & 7) (Ref on back from Mansfield Courier, March 1910 – The picnic was held at Hearn’s Crossing at Boorolite. It was considered a very beautiful site for the event, and the people of Boorolite ‘out shone’ themselves with their food and hospitality. It was said that if any one was killed on the day, it could have only been from kindness. The dummy race caused a great deal of laughter, especially when competitors were trying to mount their horses at the exact moment the gun firing competition started. Horses took off in all directions, and Mr W. Brack won the race bareback, after the saddle fell off the horse while trying to mount.)
