The Mansfield Hotel No 86 Corner of High and Highett Streets – (with gas lamp) 1890. (William Smith died in 1871. His wife, Elizabeth died in 1872. Three orphan children were left. Trustees Edwin Moorey and Samuel Reynolds managed William Smith’s estate for the children. This included the Mansfield Hotel and explains the succession of licensees from the 1870s through to the mid-1880s.
